Oomasa? More like ooh-ma, this is good!
After having ran a marathon, I was in dire need of sustenance and refuel and so my friends and I found ourselves here. For a pretty reasonable price of 17-20ish bucks, you can get yourself a giant combination bento tray of sashimi, sushi, salad, teriyaki, rice, miso soup, and ice cream to end your meal. Yup, you read that right. All of that!
It’s a respectable quantity that’s of pretty good quality. Not much else you can ask for when you come to one of these quaint shops in Little Tokyo for a meal with some friends.

Everywhere was busy for dinner, but we somehow were able to sneak a spot for 2 at the bar at Oomasa! The sushi chefs really seem to know their stuff here. The second I sat down, I had a feeling we were going to be taken well care of.
The chefs are well experienced, and cater very well to the customer. The presentation is A+! Let’s get straight to the food!
We went with the variety sashimi platter. Came with a variety of different fish, 12 pieces I believe. Be aware that it does come with a tab of wasabi! I didn’t think about it, and gagged from the smokiness lol. Very minimal amount though, so you can just rub it off. What stood out to me the most though was how fresh the fish was!
We went with the rainbow roll as well. The eel, and avocado were fresh/full of flavor! Great presentation on the roll, and it held together very nicely. The rice is nice and soft which is always a plus. I hate hard/dry rice!
We also ordered a few pieces of toro, unagi, and octopus. The sizes of the servings are huge!! Taste is fresh, and prices are reasonable! Would definitely come again.

I do love sushi and this place is the perfect pick me up after a long day!
I ordered the chirashi bowl and my cousin ordered the 12 piece chefs choice nigiri. Both plates were delicious. I have no complaints about the chirashi! I know that the chefs here work really hard. We waited for about 20 mins on a Saturday night. So I recommend come early and order early! It took them a while to bring all our food and the menus. However I would definitely come back here for the fish!

On New Year’s Eve day, we came here for lunch. I’m glad we did!
TIP: If you park in the Japanese Village Plaza, this restaurant will validate the parking for 2 hours. We sat at the Sushi bar and the chef made sure to ask us twice if we needed parking validation I really appreciated that!
Our sushi chef was friendly & skillful. He asked and answered questions. He created my Chirashi Sushi. There was 10 pieces total including salmon, tuna, shrimp, conch, egg, salmon roe (ikura), and a tiny scoop of small eggs (masago). The only piece of sashimi I wasn’t digging was the conch, but I ate it. It was a delightful dish! Tasted as wonderful as it looked!
My husband ordered the Combination #1 which comes with Miso Soup, Tempura, Rice, Chicken Teriyaki and a choice of sushi. Hubby chose a California Roll. He enjoyed most of it… and I had some, too! It comes with ice cream, but we passed on it because I wanted to hit up an ice cream shop nearby.
Everything seemed fresh and was served very hot. We had hot green tea to go with our meals.
I would definitely come back for another Chirashi!

This place is super packed during dinner time! We came on a Friday night and fortunately, we were seated within 5 minutes at the bar. If we requested a table, then it would take 40-45 minutes minimum.
The quality of the seafood was great! No complaints. Everything was fresh and the chef takes his time with presentation. The California roll tasted great with real crab. The spider roll was very fresh and not oily or bland like most places. I think this place has great quality, but service was slower than most and the price is definitely higher than other local places.
If you’re in the area then I recommend to check this place out, but it might not be a regular spot for us based on the price.

Stopped in Oomasa at 6:30pm on a Saturday and put our name on the self serve seating list. There were about 20 people waiting but we opted to sit at the Sushi bar so we got seated after about 10 minutes.
The atmosphere isn’t fancy but it’s comfortable and nice enough. The food is the shining star anyway. We ordered the rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll and a side of tempura veggies. All the rolls were delicious and the fish was super fresh. The tempura was quite a large order, was lightly battered and wasn’t oily. We also had 2 small bottles of an off-menu sake that was recommended by the server that was smooth as silk. The servers and sushi chefs were all attentive and friendly. Oomasa was one of the better sushi experiences I’ve had in the LA area lately.

I’m always a little hesitant eating lunch at Little Tokyo because of the wait, parking, etc, but this was the smoothest lunch at Little Tokyo! Found easy (free) validated parking at the Little Tokyo parking structure, at the restaurant, our group was seated immediately even though this restaurant gets popular around Friday lunch, service was good and fast, and we had a good meal!
This place has just about everything– from good sushi, teriyaki/sashimi bento meals, udon, unagi dons, etc. That’s what all my friends got in total, and every one of us left satisfied! The price is pretty good as well!
I got some sushi (spicy salmon roll and uni), simple but so good!
The salmon quality was very very good and they didn’t skimp on it either. The uni, likewise, was delicious and fresh. Melts in your mouth.

#6 was terrific, and one of–if not THE best bento box I’ve ever had. My dining partner commented that the california rolls were the best he’d ever had, whereas he normally doesn’t even like them. The sushi was excellent, the sashimi was thick and fresh, the shrimp tempura was hot, savory, and crispy. Even the orange slices were juicy and sweet. Definitely worth the money.

This is a cool little spot to catch in Little Tokyo.
Would recommend for date night or just to grab a quick bite. Lunch and dinner specials are good.I found the sushi rolls we ordered were really tasty, with flavors that surpassed my expectations.
My only gripe about our trip was waiting a little longer for my entree, but it was worth the wait and probably due to us walking in near closing time so it was easily overlooked.
I believe I got teriyaki chicken with salmon. I cleaned the whole plate because was so good.
I also ordered Spicy salmon rolls and spicy tuna rolls. I almost ordered another spicy salmon roll because it was really tasty.
